Hi there, just need a little assistance with a small matter really.More of an irritation than anything! I'm on Windows 7 and have a folder that I've moved around in order to hide or see if I can delete from different locations..to no avail.

The folder is now on the desktop and when I select delete, it repeatedly comes up with the window saying

Could not find this item
This is no longer located in C:\Users\Admin\Desktop. Verify the item's location and try again

What can I do to get around this and actually get rid of this from my pc!?

Thanks for your help!

Two questions:
How are you trying to delete it - It sounds as if it is behaving like a shortcut.
If you right click in the folder then "Properties", what does it tell you?
Have you clicked on the Start button, typed in the name of the folder and then right clicked on the folder name to see if there is more than one folder with the same name, and where are they, have you then selected "Open Folder Location" to see is there?

If I right click it, it says

Public Documents
File Folder
C:\Users\Admin\Desktop
21.1MB
4 Files 21 Folders

Created: 08 January 2013 19:29:47
Attributes Read only ticked (only applies to files in folder)

I don't think that it is a shortcut as it does not have that little arrow on the icon.
There is another folder with the same name under C:\Users\Public , but different contents.

I have tried deleting by right clicking delete. I don't know any other way to delete.

Thanks for your time

I didn't say it was a S/C, just that it was behaving as one, in that it seemed to be trying to redirect to an empty space.

Have you unchecked the "Read only" attribute of the folders inside the one you are trying to delete, and/or deleted those folder and then tried deleting the parent folder?

You cannot Delete the Public Documents folder.
Right click the file and choose Properties. Choose the Location tab and choose Move. Browse to C:\Users\Public. Overwrite any files if necessary. You can also choose Restore Default to move it to the Public folder.

It is not the actual public documents folder. That is in the correct place as normal with all the files in. This was like a copy that wasnt fully completed when I was copying folders to my external harddrive. So even so with this fact, I can't do anything?
