I ran into a problem last night where I was unable to boot from my floppy drive. All I'm trying to get is a DOS prompt from the boot disk, nothing more. I can access my OS, which is XP Pro, just fine. Problem is, when I try to boot from a floppy, I get:

"Remove disks or other media.
Press any key to restart."

This is what I know:

1) BIOS is configured properly to boot from the floppy.
2) I can see the floppy and format disks in Windows relatively fine. When I say "relatively", I mean that sometimes it'll work, sometimes it won't. Bad floppies maybe? It gave me attitude with a few new ones, too, which made me wonder.
3) I can write to floppies in XP (normal and in Safe Mode with prompt) "relatively" (there's that word again) fine.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Try a new IDE cable. If that doesn't work, use a cleaning disk (same as a video head cleaner but for floppy drives) or get a new drive.
