Hi guys, I hope someone will be able to help me here...

Let me first say that I have a Dell Inspiron 530s.

Okay, my first issue is this: my computer has a total of six USB ports: four in the back, two in the front. The two ports on the top in the back do not work at all. I am really hoping there's a simple solution to this, but I'm kind of worried--there was a lightning storm that fried several electronics in my house. I'm hoping it's as simple as changing a setting or two, and not having to replace the USB hub itself...

My second problem is that Windows Media Player doesn't open...at all. I'll double-click on a .wmv video (or any other video file associated with WMM) and nothing happens. I can open the player if I right-click WMM and click "Run as Administrator," but even then it won't play videos.

Unfortunately I've had these issues for about a month, meaning I don't have any system restore points to revert back to. If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
