I inherited a laptop running XP pro that used to be someone's work laptop. I am trying to uninstall ".net framework 1.1" using add/remove programs from the control panel. When I try to uninstall it I get a message that netfx.msi cant be found becuse it was installed from a network drop and it aborts the uninstall. This file is not anywhere on the laptop. I do not need the .net framework on the laptop. How do I complete the uninstall?

I wouldn't suggest that you uninstall the .NET framework, as _many_ applications rely on it.

The .NET framework is what we programmer's refer to as a "wrapper" around the Windows API. Or, put simply, an alternate means for interfacing with the operating system.

Regardless, if you want to remove it. Then disable any .NET services through "Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services".

Secondly, re-install the .NET framework then proceed with your uninstallation.
