What's strange is that if I open up Chrome with a different account, I can set the default search to Google. Why can't I do it for this account?

 

I have no such extension, and I've used the MCPR tool today once already. I discovered it when looking at another thread on this forum. I used the MCPR tool again and it's doing the same thing it did the first time I used it. Is it really doing anything?

 

Oh, and my browser is Google Chrome.

 

You have to Remove the McAfee Safe Search Extension First

 

Where do I look for that? There's no such thing in my 'Extensions'

 

It's probably in the apps section > Select Start , select All apps, and then scroll through the alphabetical list on the left.

 

 

Press the Windows Key +S
Search your computer.

You can also press the Windows key +R. In the Run box type regedit.
In the Registry Editor, first Backup the Registry

Next on the Toolbar, go to Edit/Find
In the Find What box type McAfee
Press Find next.
The registry search will stop on a string,
Press the Del key on the keyboard, then press Enter to accept the deletion, Press F3 to continue searching
Continually Do these last 3 steps until you get the message
Finished Searching the Registry

 

If you're still unable to remove McAfee secure search, please do the following to run a scan with FRST, and we should be able to see what the problem is ....

Download FRST64 to your Desktop.

• Double click Frst64.exe to launch it.
• FRSTwill start to run.
  • When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • When finished scanning 2 logs will open on your Desktop, FRST.txt and Addition.txt
