K-B,

Well, there's an icon at the top where they usually show up that is orange and when I mouse over it I read the following: The update information is outdated. This may be caused by network problems or by a repository that is no longer available. Please update manually by clicking on this icon and then selecting 'Check for updates' and check if some of the listed repositories fail.

So I click on it and it says my system is up-to-date. It says the package information was last updated 14 days ago.

If I click on check for updates it does and then I get this pop-up windows with the message: Could not download all the repository indexes. The repository may no longer be available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and ensure the repository address in the preferences is correct.

Under that it says: Failed to fetch http://apt.boxee.tv/dists/interpid/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz 404 Not Found
Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

on the panel that pops up, after clicking on the orange "package update" notifier, there is a check button, try using it making sure that you have an internet connection. If it comes back with some files then hit update (install the files)

Done_Fishin,

When I click on the check button it shows it's checking all the files and then a window pops up with the message: Could not download all repository indexes

The repository may no longer be available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and ensure the repository address in the preferences is correct.

Under that, in the text box it says: Failed to fetch http://apt.boxee.tv/dists/interpid/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz 404 Not Found
Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Done_Fishin,

Okay. I just completely removed boxee from my computer. The update manager still is not downloading the updates and saying the same message. Did I miss something? I shouldn't need to reboot my computer though that isn't a problem. Just curious.

from what I have understood (guessed ) you have installed 64bit distro. for some reason BOXEE has been added as a package that requires installing / updating (maybe from package manager / update manager) except that there is no package available in 64 bit. It may be that some other package requires BOXEE installed as a dependency so that it works. That I don't know. It's at times like these I mosy over to the Ubuntu forum , scratch around and occasionally ask questions if I can find a ready answer.

btw did you check out some links from the links I gave above .. this one migght help you if you need to use BOXEE

HOWTO: 32-bit Boxee on X64 Ubuntu

Hi,
You should be able to remove the apt.boxee.tv repository, go to System>Administration>Update Manager

Once it opens click on the Settings button, check in the "Other Software" tab to see if that repository is listed. If so, uncheck it.
