I have read through all the threads I can and I have not been able to find any help. I am having problems installing programs on my computer. They will all say that it is complete, but nothing new will open. I tried downloading a new version on Installshield, and when it completed, I clicked on the icon and see the page for a split second, then it goes away again. Does anyone have any ideas? I think a install link or program may have been deleted.

I am trying to install AIM again since mine was not working. When I hit the install button, it will say download complete, then I hit the "open" button but nothing happens. I am not given an icon to click on or even the AIM file in my program files. I do have one that says Install_AIM, but nothing happens if I click on that either. I also got a new printer for Christmas and it will not even read the CD-ROM to install that.

A couple of things:

Download windows innstaller

Are you logged in on an administrator account:

"control panel> user accounts>change an account"

create a new user account as an administrator in case your current profile is corrupt

start in safe mode and try to install (to enter safe mode, tap the F8 key when you turn the computer on)

look in "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\downloads" - look for setup and .exe files there instead of in program files

Search for .zip files to find the directory where compressed .zip files are downloaded

put your installation cd in, then go to the drive through "my computer". run setup from there

when you download programs, save them to the desktop. Then try to run setup

Not too sure if i can help, but when you download AIM, you have to restart befor it can work
