Hello,
OK, Here's my situation, I'm trying to connect to the internet via dail-up with my LAN line phone. My computer does not seem to recognizing the modem I just installed that was giving to me by a friend. I'm not sure if I configured it right or not. I am running win xp version 2002 service pack2 with intel pen 4 cpu 2.80 GHz and 240MG of Ram. The modem is a 3COM 3c905-tx. I think this is an ethernet card, not sure, but I was able to install it in one of the PCI slots on my motherboard. Can someone please help.

That is an ethernet card, used for broadband. If you do not have DSL, cable, or satellite internet service this card is of no use to you. If you have dial-up internet service, which you say is what you have, then you need a dial-up modem. A dial-up modem uses a regular phone cord, the same one you would use for a telephone. The plug on an ethernet card is a bit larger as it needs a different type of line and plug. To see if you have the card is installed correctly with the right driver, go to your Device Manager.
