hi, i have picked up a trojan on my computer and no matter how many scans i run i cannot remove so ive decided to formatt my hard drive if i do this will it definetly clear the trojan or do i need a new hardrive

The easiest way to format is with the orginal hard drive CD. But keep in mind that formating will erase everything. You might want to try posting a hijack this log and letting the security guys on the site try to give you hand.

sometimes viruses can survive a format; formatting a hard drive does not clear the the whole drive sector by sector formatting only prepares the secotrs need to install the operatign system

you can wipe the drive with boot n nuke (free)
