I have a laptop, Pentium I, 1gig harddrive, with Win98, That had the virus' (ver. C & L) in a zipped file that was never opened, and has been deleted. Now I get the POST and then it locks on "non-system disk". I tried using an EBD, No disk, removing the drive, changing boot sequence, using and removing the CD, removing the harddrive (with the CDdrive and disk of course). Removed and reinstalled the BIOS chip. No matter what, I get non system disk. (or logically no OS found).

Sounds like your drive is either bad (if its being detected by the BIOS on power on then its not that)
or
the/another virus did its job and messed up the system.

You can try the nondestructive path of booting with a bootdisk and typing "fdisk /mbr" at the prompt and hope the virus only messed up your Master Boot Record (MBR)
or
the more destructive option of re-partitioning and re-formating and installing Windows.
