Transferring files between computers....

Well, I'm trying to transfer files from my computer (vista) to a laptop (xp), and I'm having a bit of trouble doing so. I have a WRT54G router and was reading online that it was possible to hardwire both computers to that and send files that way, but I'm not exactly sure how to set up the network or do whatever has to be done. Is that the easiest way to send large amounts of data between computers or is there some other way? Thanks

Assuming you have both of them hooked to the router already either wired or wireless In XP go to Start-Control Panel-Network and Internet Connections-Set up or Change you Home or Small Office Network and follow the Network set up Wizard. In "My Computer"(XP) or "Computer" (Vista) You should have a Shared Documents Folder in XP and a Public Folder in Vista that each computer will be able to see so you can drag files from one to the other.
