Try running it in XP compatibility mode. If it uses DirectX, install DX9.0c.
Ok, I installed all of the components for XP compatibility mode and Directx, but now when I attempt to run XP windows mode, it says I don`t have the correct edition of Windows 7 (im running home premium). Do I have to purchase an upgrade of windows 7 (like professional) or is there a way around it?Try running it in XP compatibility mode. If it uses DirectX, install DX9.0c.
Ok, I checked all the boxes that is on the picture on that website, and tried some other variations. It just still doesn't even seem like the game is attempting to load at all. Kind of at a loss and I hate to ask again but is there anything maybe I need to have checked/unchecked in the compatibility settings? You don't need to buy anything or upgrade your Windows 7 to a different version.
'Compatibility Mode' is a method for making the game think you're running an older version of Windows. It's not the same as the Windows 7 component you installed, which is only available for Windows 7 Ultimate users.
See here for instructions on how to run older games in Windows 7 - Using Windows 7 or Vista Compatibility Mode - How-To Geek
