My computer is connected to the net without any problems, but when I use the following command (ping facebook.com) it says"request timed out". Why is that?

It is worth mentioning that now I'm home and when I am at my work place it traces perfectly. Why now I cant trace?

Have you tried another computer or a Smart phone in your home and see if you can access Facebook?

Ping and traceroute works by a protocol called icmp. If you have a firewall at home it probably blocks the incoming icmp packets.

Yes I do have a firewall. But actually when I tracert facebook in my work place with the same laptop it traces perfectly, while when I tracert facebook at home it fails while it connects to facebook without any problems.

Actually I do not know its model; it is a a modem Bell provided for me.

Sorry don't know that by heart. Must be some sort of tag or sticker on it stating the model.
