Hi,
I have a toshiba A300-035 psagoc-03501c

I own it since 2 years.
I was doing normal work, when it suddenly started to smell kind of burn smell.
And a blue screen appeared and nothing.
Now, i can't power on the laptop, only the light goes on when i put the power cord, but after i press on the power button, the light goes off, and nothing happens.

What i did :
Try without battery, try open laptop, change ram slot, reconnect all drives. Nothing. What are your advices?

thanks

Hello radium22 and welcome to TSF,

The burning smell is never a good sign. The most likely problem is your motherboard is toast. If you completely disassemble the computer, I am sure you will find darkened or burnt traces and burnt components.

I had that model in for repair a year ago. Same situation. If you're lucky you'll only need to replace the power jack. However, if this is not the case, then there will be a small SMD diode burnt which should be immediately after the fuse, which is next to the power plug. There is a workaround, to remove several components from the power regulating circuitry and feed the power through the battery connection, but it's not an easy thing to do. The best thing to do is try to find a scrap motherboard, or just sell the parts on ebay. Sorry for the bad news.
