can anyone help please? I have been using the above in my P4 2GHz laptop for approx 4 months and its been fine. however recently it has been producing 'Delayed Write Failures' in my WinXP Pro. it then seems the PC doesn't 'see' it as its icon disappear s from My Computer.

i have to take it out and leave it a while before reinserting it.

is there an update or patch I can download or any other ways of fixing this?

Help appreciated.

It sounds like the drive is overheating. When you remove the drive, is it fairly hot? FWIW, you should use the disconnect feature in the system tray before you remove a hard disk, do you realize that?

Sorry for being a bit of a novice but what does FWIW mean? Also when you refer to the system tray how do I access that in Windows XP?

Thanks again.

FWIW - For What It's Worth

The system tray is in the lower right corner, providing you haven't moved your taskbar to another location. There should be an icon for "Unplug or Eject Hardware" there. Just run the cursor over the icons in the system tray until that appears when the disk drive is installed and operating.
