okay so first of all, sorry if it's not the right board to post this but, I stumbled across this ad in a site where most Canadians montreal people visit
so I found this build that is probably worth over 2k$
and he's selling it for 300$

http:// montreal.kijiji .ca/c-buy-and-sell-computers-Ordi-Gamer-Ultra-Puissant-AM3-Six-Core-16GB-DDR3-
doit-vendre-W0QQAdIdZ271103278

sorry about the spaces they are necessary for this link to work..

I'm not sure if it's too good to be true but I am willing to buy it...
any thoughts?

list out the parts by brand and model; most people dont like chasing down links to give input; especially when your link doesnt work!

The most common reason the PSU brand isn't listed in prebuilts is because they are commonly low quality and underpowered.
16GB of RAM is way overkill and pretty much useless.
Brand & Model of the Mobo?
What is the total price?
Generally, if it sounds to good toge true it usually is.

What is the pc going to be used for? Well its ok for the 300 price range but I don't see and brands listed in your post. I would be hesetant on that, perbult always have cheap parts and that includes the psu which can do more damage then you realize. Have a look at the want to build your own pc link in my sg along with the power supply info and selection link in my sik. This will take you to some usefull info. 16 gigs of ram is more then enough ram for a pc unless you are using it as a server. 4 gigs is plenty of ram for todays users and you won't even use all of 4 gigs of ram.

Hi seth.inegbedion
Welcom to TSF, I hate to frustrat you but you will need to make a new post for your problem in the windows7/ vista secton or the laptop section of the forums. Just to make sure this wasn't a waste of time, yes you can install windows xp on a vista laptop as long as the mfg had drivers that support xp. You can use killdisk or the windows cd to format the hard drive. The error is indicating problems and I would run some test on the hardware, use memtest86 to test each ram stick for several passes. Download and run the hard drive mfg's tools to test the hard drive. Use imageburn to burn the iso's for memtest86 and the hdd diag tools and boot from the cd's.

@Metaloze:

Let's assume for a moment, as they are not listed, there is no power supply or motherboard included. Just the listed components (assuming good condition) are well worth $300.

Agreed. And since they're used, selling them around 40% current face value isn't terribly off, although I do think he'd be able to get more out of them, maybe he doesn't feel like dealing with people trying to bargain and just wants them gone and snatched up by someone. Hard to tell, it's a gamble that could pay off for someone though...or bite them!
