I just bought a Biostar N4SLI-A9 motherboard and an Athlon X2 4400+ and I have yet to enable the second core. Right now it is running everything stable, but just on one of the cores. CPUZ reports it as an AMD Athlon 64 10800+ model, so I know something can be changed. I've looked for BIOS updates, but no luck so far. Anyone have any ideas?

Go to your Motherboard's website and see if there is a BIOS upgrade for your Motherboard that allows Dual-Cores. Then download it and "flash" the BIOS.

Make sure that you DONT INTERRUPT the Installation. Without a good BIOS, your computer WILL NOT START.
