I have a Compaq PC, and a Ubee router from Time Warner Cable.
My wireless connection with att, always worked great at my parents' house even from the top floor to the basement where the router was. Now i'm in an apartment with TWC and even though my computer is just another room (an open room) away i can hardly keep my connection. sort of.
When i first got here I did not have a wireless adapter yet so I had it directly wired to the router via ethernet. This problem began. Got the adapter, and it continued.
The problem: my connection reads that it's great. 4-5 bars always. but very intermittently --sometimes just for a minute sometimes for an hour or more i have to just hit refresh over and over and over because even though i'm still connected, the pages time out repeatedly! It is so frustrating!
I did the cmd, ipconfig and found my ip is 192.168.0.1
I read that if i went there in my browser i could change the channel since the one we were one (1) could be crowded. which it was --via inSSIDer.
yesterday i spent hours trying to get there but it would not bring up the administration page! i told TWC this via their chat customer support and their tech said that on their end all the readouts look like they work, they werent able to change the channel for me and made a ticket for their higher tech support. but today i magically could get on it so i changed it to channel 3. and it worked like a charm for about 3 hours. now here i am. timing out again, lucky to even be able to be on this page asking for help
please any other ideas that could be causing this!?! it's driving me crazy! it does it for IE and Firefox (which is my default)
