Hi: I would like to know if Windows Vista has a timer feature. Think of timers that you use to turn Christmas lights on and off at desired time each day.
What I am hoping is that the feature would perform the normal shutdown procedure to protect settings and then the next morning ,for example, start the computer up again at say 9:00 am.
I am interested in this to save energy at the library where I work as custodian.
I am reluctant to just use a "Christmas Light" timer as it would merely shut off the power, but not allow for a proper shutdown procedure. I have been advised that an improper shutdown does not allow hard drive to park the pickup stylus correctly.
I know very little about computers, so if there is such a feature, please advise step by step instructions.
Thank you,
Ron
