Hello there members,
As most of you can see (I'm pretty sure all of you can), this is my first post in TechSupport FORUM. However, I'm a real follower of this wonderful community, and I finally registered here because I need some assistance regarding upgrading my CPU + VGA Card.

Current:
Biostar G31 M7 TE ver:6.7
Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 Duo E7500 @2.93 GHz, OC'ed @3.5 GHz
ATI (R) Radeon (TM) HD 3450 512MB
WD Blue Caviar 320GB Hard disk, partitioned: 75GB, 100GB, 130GB

Objectives:
Intel (R) Core (TM) I7 xxxxx
ATI (R) Radeon (TM) HD xxxx 1GB

Here is the thing. In the objectives list, I don't know what the xxxxx's should be. I looked at the I7 compatibility with my G31 M7 TE 6.7 motherboard, and found that several users are running it along, however, at the Biostar motherboard sheet data in their website, only Core (TM) 2 Quads are stated. Is it safe to run an I7? I certainly don't want to brick anything! I also dont' know what VGA card should I purchase, and I could use some help here.
Thanks in advance, looking forward to live in this community!

That motherboard only supports C2D or C2Q processors. i7, i5 and i3 are different socket types so you would need to replace your motherboard if you wanted to go with one of those.
My first upgrade would be a good quality Mobo.
Brand & Model of the PSU you are using?
Hi ammyt,

May I ask, do you have a budget? When you finally decide to make your purchase, I recommend Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, HDTV, Electronics and Cameras! for good deals on computer parts.

Thanks for your reply. So I guess I7 is a no go for me. What about an ATI Graphics card? What do you think? I am considering the Radeon HD 5570: Sapphire Radeon HD 5570 1GB CrossFire Video Card Review - Radeon HD 5570 - $79 for 520 GFlops - Legit Reviews
Got any thoughts?
