In the past I did some tinkering on setting up start up, now this happens every time. "This PC" folder opens up every time along with my Google Chrome browser. I have Windows 8. I tried opening MSCONFIG and task mgr. to locate it but it doesn't show. I'm thinking I may have to adjust a registry item but I'm not positive on what exactly to change or how to. Thanks for any help!

MSCONFIG doesn't show startup items in Windows 8 and above, they are listed in Task Manager instead. You can view and manage startup items and scheduled tasks using CCleaner. Download and install it, open it and click Tools > Startup. Look under the Windows and scheduled tasks tabs to inspect all active/enabled items and the commands they execute. The item you are looking for is most likely running "explorer.exe".

What does that mean and where did you do that at?

For your chrome issue...generally an uninstall and fresh download of chrome and clean install of chrome usually fixes most issues like that.

For your "This PC" problem....open up file explorer, open the ribbon and click on the view tab, click option and click "folder and search options, in that window under general tab.....at the bottom click "restore defaults" and apply and OK your way out.

Your fix worked. I already has CC Cleaner. I had checked in the past and seen explorer.exe in the startup but was concerned I would be disabling Internet Explorer and left it alone. I disabled it today then shut down and This PC folder did not open. Thanks. Lets hope its a permanent fix!
