i recently posted about having problems with clicks and pops in my sound with my realtek ac97 alc 658 meanwhile i've been contacting customer support about this and after 4 or 5 replies from them i had still no improvement, they then suddenly stopped responding to me , i made two formal complaints by e-mail and still nothing, i just wish to say that realtek is not a great way to go if you ever need tech support or client services so there is my warning and if anyone has anything to suggest except updating drivers and reinstalling feel free

Why are you sticking with Realtek if it's causing you so much trouble and is so easy to replace?

A cheap Soundblaster PCI card will remove the clicks and pops and give you better overall sound quality. If you play games, you should also see higher fps as the sound is being handled by the soundcard rather than overloading the CPU.
