Thinkpad G40 boots only to C drive. A bootable CD does not boot, it goes directly to the C drive. Thinkpad does read off of CD's making me believe the cd/dvd drive is OK. Please don't tell me I have a motherboard issue! But I'm thinking boot rom.

Go into BIOS, change the Boot Order setting to 'CD First', hit F10 to save settings and exit.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I can't even get into bios. I hold down the ACCESS IBM button as you normally would and it just goes right to the c drive. I've tried removing the battery. I don't know what else to do to get into bios or get it to boot a cd. Please suggest something else if you would.

Agree with joeten's reply. u may press F1/ blue Access IBM button continously after ur laptop starts to boot up... By then, U should able to enter the bios startup menu.
Change the boot sequence with local disk 'C', followed by cd/DVD drive and floppy drive 'A'...
