Thinkpad refuses to "Sleep" when closed.

I can't explain it, my thinkpad T23 all of a sudden stopped going to sleep when it's closed. It used to do it just fine, but whenever I do it, it turns itself back on in a couple seconds.

I just got a Vantec cooling pad for it, and it's plugged in USB, and the first couple times I used it, it's fine, but I don't know if that's causing it or something else is.

Help appreciated.

Just tried removing the cooling system and that doesn't seem to be the problem. It seems it still goes to sleep and comes back on when I flip the laptop open it'll be a black screen and I have to close it, wait, and reopen it to use it again.
