I turned on my PC after school and went to play some songs. Well it turns out my file my songs were in was missing. I did a complete system search and came up empty handed. I know i wouldn't erase 1 gig of music. My PC's password protected so noone else could have gotten in. Is there something wrong with my HD?

Run scan disk, defrg --look for bad clusters...repair errors

there was/is a program called ontrack that does diagnostic on hard drive...better yet if you know who makes the drive get thier diagnostics...do a search for *.CHK files...alot of these is a sign the HD is going south!!

What kind of operating system and file system are you running on your PC?

What I'm getting at is that the files may still be there - it may simply be an issue with the File Allocation Table (FAT) or it's equivalent.
