Hello there. I've decided to replace my old broken fan and to apply thermal paste. When I cracked up the laptop and took off the motherboard's heat pipe, I have noticed an orange seal over the CPU and below it a lot of old thermal paste. What Am I supposed to do? If I have to remove it, how not to damage the cpu? (Thermal paste was probably added previously by the workshop which fixed and dusted off my pc 2 years ago.)

I just use Isopropyl Alcohol and an old rag, removes it fine for me.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that was Kapton tape. They use that to insulate the HS from the connections on top of the processor.
