plug your usb drive in and click on my computer, then right click on the usb icon and select properties, there you will see and be able to enable readyboost.
I asked that question because I noticed upon seeing this thread that my HP Windows 7 x64 has no ReadyBoost service, either, listed in services.msc. I never noticed that prior to today.
pat I tried doing the performance monitor thing. Before I plugged in the flash drive there were only red lines. Once I plugged in the flash drive, some other colored lines appeared. Does that mean ReadyBoost is working?
I haven't used Ready Boost sice the early days of Vista. With a typical x64 system now having 4GB or more of RAM - there is no need to use flashsticks as supplemental RAM.
I would suspect that the additional red lines is an indication of it working.
You would need to look at the legend in perfmon to see what the red color is set to represent.
My Win 7 Ultimate x64 system doesn't have a ReadyBoost service either, but when I insert a 1 GB SD card, Speed up my PC using Windows ReadyBoost is one of the options on the Autoplay Dialog. Looks like the Service isn't needed
Haven't tried it as the card is nearly full and is old anyways, and old SD cards aren't the best for ReadyBoost.
