Hello and welcome to TSF.

Multiple Antivirus

I see that you have 2 antivirus programs on this machine. From your log, I noted Norton and Webroot. This messes up the machine pretty badly and could be the main source of your problem. Anti-virus programs have conflicts co-existing with each other & may produce undesirable results. Please uninstall ALL leaving only one.

Antivirus programs must be removed via Add/Remove program.
For any program that doesn't have an add/remove entry, you will have to do this:
Re-install the program -> Reboot -> Uninstall

P2P Software

I see you have P2P software (i.e. Ares) installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing
as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you
more susceptible to re-infections. It may be contributing to your current situation. This page will give you further information.

Unhide Files

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab:
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Also make sure there is no checkmark beside Hide file extensions for known file types
  • Click Yes to confirm and then click OK.

Jotti File Upload

Upload this file C:\WINDOWS\system32\6|5041.exe to http://virusscan.jotti.org and report back what it found.

At the top of the window you should see "File to Upload & scan" and a blank box. Copy and paste the red text from above into the box. Then click "submit".

When it is finished, please copy and paste the information listed under "Service" and "Scanner Results" here.

------------------------------------------------------------

Please download HijackThis and Save it to your Desktop.

Alternate link

Double-click on the file you just downloaded.
Click on the Unzip button to install. It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis

Upon install, HijackThis should open for you. Please close it. We will be doing the fixing later.

Safe Mode

  • Restart your computer.
  • Before the Windows logo appear, tap F8 repeatedly. In some systems, this may be the F5 key.
  • A menu should appear, select Safe Mode from the menu using your arrow keys and then hit Enter on your keyboard.
  • This will take a while than usual, so just wait.
  • After it loads, Login on your usual account.

Fixes with HijackThis

Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan Only'. Check the following entries (If they still exist, make sure you do not miss any)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {95E1D855-9232-48F7-80D9-1ADB65B7939C} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: IE LiveTV - {F38636ED-E66E-4A37-822E-0C01F64D6605} - C:\WINDOWS\apsaxu.dll

Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers then click Fix checked.

Files Deletion

Delete the following Files indicated in RED if they still exist.

C:\WINDOWS\apsaxu.dll

You may now reboot back to normal mode

Online Scan

Using Internet Explorer, visit http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/default/kavwebscan.html

Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.
  • The program will then begin downloading the latest definition files.
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Locate the Scan Settings button & configure to:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
      • Extended
    • Scan Options:
      • Scan Archives
        [*]Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK & have it scan My Computer
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.

  • Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply
* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

------------------------------------------------------------

Next, navigate to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis and double click on HijackThis.exe

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Please post a new HijackThis log in your next reply. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.
