Have you tried going to the drive manufacturers site and downloading their diagnostics utility.
Try this and see if the drive reports any errors..........

Hard like the name goes mine isn't responding to commands let alone the ooperating sys win 2k
Causes a cob web in ma mind first it refused to boot,98 would say verifying the dmi pool then it hangs.
Alright i partitioned and formated then installed win 2k fine this worked pretty well for a while then with all ma app. installed, all it gave me was a miserable error with a blue screen that never goes out of ma site unless i turn the pc off from the switch.
the screen is blue with white writing relating to win2k i donot understand a thing, well inthe bios i see it clean but it won't take no ****of application in it.
