80070005 is an Access Denied error. I would try granting your profile permission to access the directories used by gTalk

I've seen similar issues (not with gTalk) that were due to virus infections. Have you removed any viruses recently - or have you scanned for viruses?

You also may want to try SubinACL: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2006/09/04/739820.aspx
Thank you. I will try the solution that you have suggested.
Thank you for your solution. The COM+ error has gone, but now I am getting the following new error

Failed extract of third-party root list from auto update cab at: <http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/authrootstl.cab> with error: A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file.

Again, the Gtalk does not start and it hangs the computer. Cltr+Alt+Del also does not work. Can you please suggest and help?
What did you do to fix the error?
Have you removed a virus recently?
Have you scanned your system for viruses with an independent scanner (in case your antivirus has been corrupted)?
