Testing my hard drive?

611 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Robrob4477
I got a new hard drive about a month ago now. When i got it i did a fresh install of windows on it and used it up untill now as my main hard drive. Through this month i kept getting crashes and just kept getting worse and worse up untill now where i have formated again but useing my other hard drive.

I heard there is some diagnostic tool i can run on my hard drive to see if that is the problem with my computer crashing all the time. Anyone know of any?

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your hard drive. They should usually have a diagnostics tool in there. You want to back up your data first though.
run
chkdsk /r
on the drive it may just need the file system refreshing

I tried that :> Didn't work. I'll go look for the diagnostic tool thing

Thanks for quick replies
