Today, or rather yesterday, I got hit by the Chinese adware of Tencent. I panicked a bit but I downloaded malwarebytes and adwcleaner. Now they have cleaned out pretty much everything except one annoying piece. When I go into regedit there is something that still has that name called DeviceDesc and the data said its a Tencent Auto Optimizer Platform. I cannot delete it, it won't let me. This is one of the last things I feel is needed to be rid of it for good. Please Help! Thank You!

P.S There is something also in regedit called LEGACY_TAOKERNELDRIVER where the Tencent data thing is held. Also something called LEGACY_TAOACCELERATOR which I don't know, but may be connected. Again, thank you.

**Note - Please do NOT upgrade your OS to Windows 10 until your machine is clean, and we have uninstalled all our removal tools. Thanks.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system.
If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to the disclaimer.
  • Make sure the Addition.txt button is ticked.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.
