Temperamental Connection

I'm on my family's Vista computer and it can't ever seem to connect to the router's admin page and the internet at the same time. I'm using a D-Link DGL-4300 Wireless 108G Gaming Router. If I disable and re-enable the network adapter, the default Vista repair program cites a DNS error. If I reboot the router in any way, however, I gain internet access at the cost of access to the router. I've tried the Winsock fix and updating the firmware.

Also, from my personal XP SP3 computer (as well as my brother's computer and Xbox) which have never had any problems, I can always connect to the router wirelessly, but never the internet. I have great signal strength and the wireless card is updated, but can't access anything or ping websites. I've done all the basic repowering, replugging, and reestablishing all the setups, but nothing has worked. I'm completely lost.

Hello and Welcome to TSF!

See, if Power Cycle helps, if not you may have to do a router reset to the factory, then re-configure everything.
1. Save all your current work, close all open applications, then shut down your computer. Wait for a minute.
2. First, turn your Router off and wait for a couple of minutes.
3. Turn off your modem.
4. Disconnect all the ethernet cables that are connected to the router and modem and the PC.
5. Reconnect them and ensure that there are no loose connections in between them.
6. Now, switch on your PC and let it boot.
7. Switch on the modem first and after it gets initialized, switch on the router.

Please give us an update.
I tried the steps as listed and it put me back at Point B. I can connect to the internet but not the router. The computers connected wirelessly still have no access.
I wonder if you have everything plugged in correctly. Please verify all your connections from here.
I've double-checked all the cords and they're fine as far as I can tell. The lights on the router are showing connectivity and the computer senses no problems with the cable. I'm still only able to access the router page when the network adapter is disabled, and with the adapter enabled, unable to access the router. Attempting to access the router admin page only times out. No configurations allow me to use the internet wirelessly yet.
Can you pls. provide an ipconfig /all info of your computer? Here's the guide:
Click on Start => run and type the word cmd and press enter. From the black screen, type the word ipconfig /all and press enter. Right click on the black screen choose Select All and Paste the results here.

The ipconfig /all is a direct connection from your Modem, can you please post another one and this time, connect it directly to the router?

Very important, please disable any Firewall or Software that you have in your computer for now.

This is the same setup with the firewall down, since I'm not exactly sure what you mean. I have the same cables hooked up because I'm connected directly to the router already via ethernet cable. Did you want me to hook up directly to the modem instead? I'll post the results for that.

You appear to have the modem wired to the router's LAN ports, not to the correct WAN port.
Post#4, I did ask if everything is plugged where they are supposed to be situated. There are pictures too in the link that I gave you.
That's my fault, I'm sorry. It wasn't working through the WAN port so I had to use LAN, it just slipped my mind. It seems to working now, though. Apparently we were having some electrical problems over here and some things didn't have enough juice to run.. sorry for the inconvenience.
No worries...we're glad that things are sorted out now.

The reason we're specific is the WAN port has a very different function than the LAN ports, and plugging the modem into the LAN ports will not give you the correct function. Specifically, your router will not be a router.
