hello,

system restore has not worked for months, I have search & tried everything to correct this. I finally did a format of hard disk & reinstalled XP on Tuesday. Unfortunately, system restore still refuses to restore and only says

"your computer cannot be restored to":

I never get any kind of idea of why it does not work.

I read somewhere that in 'services.msc' system restore service should be running under 'Local Service' whereas mine is running under 'Local System'.

Known issue with XP.

I believe it is whatever security program you have installed that is causing it to fail. If you do it in safe mode (F8 on boot) then it will work.

Works every time!

Thank you for your reply.

I have tried it in safe mode many times, both before and after the format of hard disk, it definitely does not work for me. When I first found that SR did not work I removed AVG anti-virus and installed Avast av but still not working. Believe me over three months I have tried everything.
