I have a AMD Athlon system with 768MB DDR Memory.
However the system is not making use of the RAM and is overworking the processor. So the system moves slow most times.

It can hardly handle any form of graphic.

Triesd tweaking it with a number of softwares but to no avail.

What I want to know is..., Is there a way to make the computer utilize the available memory?

Hi Mystery,

Generally Windows won't use all or even most of your memory at any one time. You can make it have a larger cache which would work well with 768 MB. Right click on my computer and follow these steps:

Right Click
> Advanced tab > Performance Settings > Click Advanced > Memory Usage > Check System Cache > Click OK and restart.

This will increase the system cache and make the RAM more utilized. But keep in mind that you won't see all your RAM utilized unless you do graphics intensive applications. If you download Google Earth for example, you will see your RAM quickly get used.

I'm usig Win2k so I dont have a cache option.
I can only change my Virtual Memory size.

I tried running Need For Speed 2 - Underground on it and the memory still wouldnt use up. But the processor was at 100% and the game didn't load fully. I only saw some patches of it. Not even the mouse pointer was visible.

Hmm, I though I remember that option being in Windows 2K. I guess not. What are your specs? Depending on what graphics you have, try monitoring the RAM usage with the Task Manager in the system tray. When you are playing Need For Speed, pause while racing or something and look at how much physical memory is being used. Sometimes you have to look right while you are playing a game.

I tried the Task Manager thing already and it still wasn't using the memory.

Something is definitely wrong with my system. I Installed and ran NFS on a system with Intel Celeron 2.6Ghz and 256 MB DDR RAM and it went smoothly.

Anyway.., here's my sys info. See what U can do with it.

USAGE
CPU - 100% Usage
Mem - 29%

TEMPERATURES

CPU - 48 Deg Celcius
SYS - 28 Deg Celsius
AUX - 54 Deg Celcius
HDD1 - 35 " "
HDD2 - 43 " "

Voltages

VCoreA: 1.63V
VCoreB: 1.50V
+3.3V: 3.18V
+5V: 5.00V
+12V: 11.60V
+5VSB: 4.92V
+VBAT: 3.32V

I cant play the game. The demo runs, but when its time to start the game, nothing shows clearly. I cannot see the mouse pointer or anything else. just a grey screen with some patches of colour.

When I was installing the game, the memory was averaging 96% usage with SensorView. However, in Task Manager, it was only showing app 30% usage.

I have 2 memory chips in the system, a 256 and a 512. I'm wondering if the 512 is not being utilised.

Hi Mystery

Your temps look fine to me but your 12V looks a little low.

Open up Task Manager, click on the Processes tab and then click CPU twice.

What "Image Name" comes up to the top and with what usage percentage?
