also if you have programs running in the background you dont need, this will contribute to the slowness too.

you can click on start -> run -> type in "msconfig" without the "" and then click on the startup tab. uncheck anything that you dont need running. good luck

you can also try modifying your pagefile and see if that helps at all:

With Task Manager open, click on Processes tab. Then click CPU. Now you will see the heaviest resource user move to the top of the list.

Also, when you click the Performance tab you will see your consumed ram.

If no clues with this I would look at the Page File set-up as Keymaker suggested.

I've got XP 512MB with a page file set at 768MB and it works fine.

Could be that TC is too taxing on your present set-up to open other apps with it running.

JF

I would suggest more ram / another matching stick of 512 especailly if your running a P4 system

99% cpu used ??????? how do you do that ???????

you may consider running counterspy (free 15 day trial) and adaware SE (free)sounds like you have a boat load of spyware running / might be worth your while to visit this forum's HIJACK this section and inquire as to how to post your own hijack log

http://www.sunbelt-software.com/CounterSpy-Download.cfm

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

download and run both !! use the FULL system scans from within both progs

thats my two cents

regards
