System freezes when I go to print - "recovered from serious error" on reboot
Hi all,
About 5 months ago I purchased a new computer (running XP Home Edition SP2) and a Canon Pixma MP510 printer. Since I got the computer and printer, I started having problems whenever I'd go to print - it doesn't matter in what program I'm printing from. 80% of the time it will freeze when I go to print. I get a strange "blue screen of death" - actually it's a black screen with blue unreadable text (looks extra large and 'pixely') like this...
After a hard reboot, my system will start and I will get
"this system has recovered from a serious error" message. On checking the 'Event Viewer' after the crash it tells me the following:
System Error

After the crash and reboot, if I try and print again it will work. Only for it to freeze again, on the next printing maybe an hour or two later. This has been happening for months now and I can't seem to find a solution. Since I rely a great deal on my printer for my work (at home), it's been a real headache!
My first guess was a corrupted printer driver. So I uninstalled then reinstalled the printer again. Still no luck. I downloaded a newer driver online and installed it, still didn't help. So it's still freezeing when I go to print.
I contacted the shop I purchased it from and he says he's not heard of such a problem, so I thought I'd ask for help here if anyone's experienced this before and what may be causing it.
Any ideas, anyone? I'd be greatly in your debt for any suggestions or advice.
