Suspicious Service Names, fear trojan

2269 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  tetonbob
Hello,

I am posting from a different system than I am reporting on. I have taken the suspected infected PC off any internet connectivity, so please forgive that I have not followed the steps precisely.

Machine has AVG (updated 3/21) and Spybot S&D (updated 3/19) on it.
I saw router lights going furiously after starting Divx player (v6.7) yesterday.

That's when I unplugged the network cable and ran HiJackThis and found several "Unknown Owner" listings in the O23 Service section.

The only online posting I found was for SIST.exe on PREVX as potential malware but no further details.

All I hope to learn is what this is or was. I am already resolved that the system will have to be re-built.

Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the HiJackThis log:

If you're intent on rebuilding, there's no real point in trying to clean the machine. That's what we attempt do here, not forensic analysis. The forum is too busy for that, I'm sorry.
