I have found since upgrading to Win 10 that every few weeks or month the unit will appear to start properly and shows icons but not in the task bar and nothing functions. After turning off to try and restart, it will then not turn on at all and then overtime, without a clear reason why it will turn on and function properly.

The last time this happened it might have been trying the Microsoft suggestion of holding the on/off key for 30 seconds but not really certain.

I really depend on it as many people do. Hate to send it for service if there is noting wrong with the machine itself. Any ideas or is this just a Win 10 problem I live with or go back to 8.1?

Have now tried the scan. The summary result was some errors found but not all could be repaired. I have run it twice. I will now wait to see if it has solved the problem.

Thanks for the help.

I have not yet manually reset the registry - a little shy about that I guess - but I find while the scans have not fixed everything, so far running a little better. Not sure if all ok, it seems to be acting a little different then usual, but I think I will watch it for a while first.

I will report on progress. Thanks for the help.

Interestingly it seems to be operating ok since the scans. But I will continue to watch and take a look at the registry change.

Thanks for the help.

Make sure you have sp1 of .NETframework as well. This is 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5. Just installing 4.5 doesn't install previous versions. This may not be the problem but there are applications out there that only use 3.5sp1.
