I would recommend waiting on the CCENT and CCT until you've got some real-world experience under your belt. Those certifications aren't designed for entry-level, and employers with entry-level jobs don't need someone to administer Cisco gear.

I'd recommend you pursue the A+ and Network+ certifications from CompTIA and get ANY IT job so you can start to get experience. Network administration isn't a job that you get at the beginning... it is a job that you work up to. Network admin jobs are typically entrusted to techs who have years of IT experience.

@BosonMichael, my apologies for hijacking this thread, buuut...i posted under the title "jumping in" and was hoping to have a response by now. Would your advice to Chaitu.P apply to my circumstances as well? I have 13 years experience in PSTN as well as HDSL, ADSL, VDSL, Bonded ADSL. I have predominantly Layer 1 experience, but I have had real-world experience with the other 6 layers as well. However, I have no certs at this time. Any insights would be helpful and very much appreciated!
