At about one o'clock two nights ago, with nothing better to do, I decided to upgrade my ESET Smart Security 4 to Smart Security 5. This is probably irrelevant, as I noticed this slow down just before uninstalling version 4. I didn't take much notice of it till this morning when I realised how bad it was. It takes a full minute to load the regular Google home screen, Facebook loads only the first couple posts and I can't search anything on Google at all.
Using a Telus 2Wire 2700HG-E-Gateway
The affected computer is a custom built computer:
>64bit Windows 7
>Intel Core 2 Quad CPU at 2.40 GHz
>7GB RAM
>GeForce Ti 550 1GB
>P965 mobo
>Cable connection to a modem
I would tell the Up&Down speeds along with ping, but speedtest.net isn't loading. It says I don't have the latest install of Javascript and flash, but I do.
Programs telling me there are no problems:
>ESET SE5
>Microsoft Essentials
>Malewarebytes' Antimaleware
>Tuneup Utilities 2012
Those basics are probably good enough.
The computer I'm on the same network as:
>32bit Windows 7
>Gateway Netbook with Intel Atom N270 1.60GHz
>1GB RAM
>Wifi (DownSpeed: 3Mbps, Upspeed:0.79Mbps, ping: 55)
I've tried:
>Switching cables to modem
>Running all those programs mentioned trying to find problem
>Defragmenting
>Checkdisc
>Fiddling with the Network And Sharing Center, nothing's wrong(Tell's me I'm connected and stuff)
>Notsh int ip reset c:/resetlog.txt
>Google for hours (Majority of the time it magically fixes itself)
>Attempting to find a good/different DNS now with Namebench, but I don't think that'll work because it only effects this one computer.
Nope. That didn't work. This computer's a little faster now though...
Things I can do with what works:
>Download/upload/share things within home network
>Download/upload things through Facebook messages at a normal rate (Once the page loads, which can range from 15 minutes to an hour)
>Sometimes Google things.
I feel terrible that it's come to my asking for help. I normally avoid that as much as possible. I am bloody frustrated.
