Hello, thanks for taking the time to read this..

I am getting sudden drops in FPS, and spikes in my CPU usage. These will happen while idling, so I assume not one specific program would be causing this. Immediate heat issues are also ruled out, I get a solid 50 Celsius. But permanent heat damage could have occurred in the past.( its a rather old machine built out of spare parts)

I just noticed the processor *****, in task manager I will see a nice 0% suddenly jump to 33% then go back down.

The FPS will drop to 1/10th of its original number sometimes( from 100-150 down to 10-20) It will happen for anywhere from 10 seconds to 10 minutes, but always returns to normal at some point(thankfully)

Ive been "dealing" with this for a few years now, just seeing if theirs a way to fix this.

Specs are as follows: ( just ask for more/ more specific ones if needed)

Intel core2duo 2.40Ghz
4GB DDR2 ram
Nvidia 9500 (1GB video ram)
some 7.5k rpm harddrive
450 watt PSU
Windows XP x64 pro SP2

Thanks,
-Fakebird

Please read my post that contains my specs before posting this type of thing...

I not only clearly listed my specs, but also said the temperatures. As for the 12volt rail, ill check that later....

the specs you posted were not clear enough and incomplete to be of much use

that's why i asked for them again
I clearly said " ( just ask for more/ more specific ones if needed) "

When your ready to not be vague, go ahead and ask me. Also if you did in fact read my post, you wouldn't have asked for temperatures that were already there.

Lying to me is one thing, but trying to insult my intelligence is something else entirely...

Why do you have to be so rude and disrespectful to the ones that are trying to help you? What dai asked was not vague in any way. He was asking for what temp the BIOS is reporting as we don't know where you're getting that reading from and your complete computer specs.

You call this detailed information:

Intel core2duo 2.40Ghz
4GB DDR2 ram
Nvidia 9500 (1GB video ram)
some 7.5k rpm harddrive
450 watt PSU
Windows XP x64 pro SP2

posting a 450w psu only tells us it is probably underpowered

without the model of the m/board we have no way of knowing

there are many makes and models of 450w psu

some are quality at one end

at the other end they are only fit to go into the rubbish bin

if you want help you need to supply accurate information or we can only guess as to what may fix the problem

as for intelligence your not showing much from your comment

The temperature readings were taken from the bios. Sorry that I did not include that in my OP, I felt it unnecessary.

Sorry, I grabbed this PSU from the ever increasing pile of old PSUs. I just took a look at this one heres some info:

Its made by a company called: " Just a PC (USA) inc"

And the model number: ATX-450-12v ( There company must not make many types of PSU?)

some info from CPUID about my voltages:
