This is an issue that just started happening a week or so ago.
I boot up my computer (Super Athlon - Windows XP) and occasionally, I'll hear a loud BEEP right when Windows opens. Now, if it's going to behave, that's the only time I'll hear that. If it isn't going to behave, when I access the internet, I'll hear a series of beeps, real fast, like BEEP!BEEP!BEEP!BEEP!BEEP!BEEP!BEEP!BEEP! and any window I have open that scrolls, will go spastic, going from the top to the bottom and back and forth like crazy.
If I move my mouse away from the active window, it will stop. But if I move my mouse from that window to another window even if that window is not active, the unactive window will act up.
This behavior (so far) will go on for maybe a half hour or so and then... stop.

Does this sound like a mouse issue, or is my computer possessed?

I must warn you now that I know next to NOTHING about the workings of computers. If you say, "Well, start by going into BIOS..." or other computer-ese, I will invite you over to my house and let you do it.
