Specs-
Model: Pavilion a6130n
OS: Vista Ultimate X64 SP2
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+
GPU: nVidia GeForce 6150 (Integrated)
RAM: 3GB DDR2
DirectX: 11

Issue: Audio CDs won't play properly, can't rip, can't burn. First track of a CD will play for about 30 seconds, skips to next and skips further to the 7th. Skips again to 13 and plays 30 seconds. Skips all the way to the end. CD plays perfectly in other systems and players. Drive works perfectly in other computers.

Background: This PC belongs to one of my wife's co-workers and has me completely stumped. I've tried other drives, other CDs, other players with the same results or worse. Filter deletion from the registry had no results, uninstalling/reinstalling device has no change. I reinstalled the OS with my own copy of Vista as opposed to the system recovery because the client upgrade from the stock Vista Home Premium to Ultimate. The OS is 100% legit and patched.
