Strange reboot problems

868 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Terrister
Hopefully someone can help me. A couple of weeks ago the computer started rebooting every time the air conditioner comes on. The house was completely rewired six years ago so the wiring is new. I've tried different plug-ins, new UPS, and unplugging everything but the CPU and monitor. Nothing has helped and nothing else in the house is having problems. This doesn't happen with the older computer. I'm using an eMachines W2260 and know it's not the best computer on the market. Haven't had any problems with it until now though. :4-dontkno

Try taking the side of the case off and blow a fan into it. Does it still lock up? Does it do it as often?

If this makes it better, you have a cooling problem. Normally a fan has slowed down or stopped working.
Blew canned air into it last night and it didn't make any difference.
They may not be enough to tell. Are all the fans working? Was it hot inside the case?
