hi

i'm having this problem with a few .exe's, now specifically is with an update to my printer driver...but it has happened before, with other .exe's or in other situations. so i don't think that the problem is with this particular situation, probably more general stuff..

so when i try to run the installer i get those windows 16bit subsystem windows saying:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\IPVDM32.dll. A virtual device manager has failed dll initialization.

virtual device manager? hmm...guessing probably problems to do with alcohol or smthing? donnow..

oh i'm under win xp of course..

any light on this problem?

This may occur if one or more of the following files are missing or damaged:

Config.nt
Autoexec.nt
Command.com

You can replace/restore the files from HERE
Unzip and copy the missing file(s) to Windows\System32 folder.

Or you can Run the System File Checker

Go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow ( sfc if not reconized)

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem. You will need your Windows cd.
