I was working on the internet when it suddenly stopped with a blue message screen. The screen was then blank so I just shut down the computer without using the proper method.

The computer was making a beeping sound.

When I restarted there was a bios check message and I reset the bios. ( this means I reset time and date, and enabled bios virus warning, and enabled usb functions)

I then restarted but the computer went on for a moment and then shut down.

I restarted and there was the check bios message again and I reset the bios again

I restarted and the same thing happened again.

I tried this several times and then restarted without resetting the bios and scan disk did it's thing.

The computer booted up without problems and I restarted it again to see if it might work better after the scan disk but the same thing happened. Bios reset wouldn't take.

So I started the computer again without altering bios despite the error message. ( Next time I restart I'll write down exact message)

The computer seems to be working and the time is even set right but I would like to be able to make changes in my bios.

Wondering if it could be that I need a new battery.

Yes - the brand name doesn't matter as long as you get the correct type.
