Stereo Mix Missing, Help!?

4118 Views 11 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  mcorton
Hey all! I want to record my computer with sound. However, the stereo mix is missing

I checked "Show Disabled" and "Show Unplugged" but still nothing. So I tried to install Stereo Mix, I found results, but they didn't fit me, or they didn't worked :sigh:

I tried DriverMax agent, showing disabled sound drivers, but nothing.

Here's my computer info: (I couldn't copy paste so I typed it as best as I could)

Windows Vista Home Premium 2007 Microsoft
Service Pack 2
Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Model: Compaq Presario CQ60 Notebook
Rating: 4.0
Processor: AMD Athlon Dual-Core QL-62
Memory (RAM): 2.00 GB
System type: 32-bit Operating System

Any solutions?

Hi do you have any error flags in device manager ie yellow ! or red Xs ? the info you gave on your model is a little short on the exact model there are 37 versions of that model Product search results if you get the full model number you can then click on the link and you will be able to download all the drivers you need for your machine and burn to a disc for the future
Are you using aCreative Soundblaster X_fi Extreme Audio Card? If so there is no stereo mix. I have the same issue. You'll need to upgrade to the titanium or buy the USB card.

There's no ! or X's in any of them.

And to be honest... That's the only thing I know about my computer and I had it for 2 years

I have Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221.

(Sorry for the double post)
Different card use different names and some don't have it at all. I've seen it call "What You Hear," and "Record All"
I only have Microphone in Recording Sound.....
I think you have the same situation I have then. I intend to get a card with stereo mix as soon as finances allow. I was surprised and a wee bit peeved when I bought the soundcard to find stereo mix isn't there.
>_> Soooo..... What Audio Device I could install that has Stereo Mix or anything that records my speakers?
I'm going to get the Creative Soundblaster XFi Titanium audio. I honestly don't know which cards have it but most have some form of it. I also use my computer for recording my own songs and have been lost without it.
I see.

*looks at wallet* Sigh, guess I gotta save 80 bucks.
There are cheaper cards so don't despair. If you decide on one call the manufacturere to make sure the card has the feature.
