Whenever I launch Steam games (Alien Swarm, L4D2, and MW2, maybe others I can't remember) my microphone volume goes up to max. This is a problem when I'm on vent so I instantly blast everyone's ears once the game loads. I have to tab out and lower the volume, then it's good for the rest of the game.

I've seen people with similar problems have success turning off the community overlay, didn't work for me. I also have 'Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device' unchecked in Windows.

I have an Asus P5Q Premium mobo, using onboard sound which is an ADI AD2000B, running on Win7 64-bit. I'm using the latest drivers from Asus' site, they are SoundMax drivers, the manufacturer of the sound card is Analog, but their site has nothing.
