Starting programs automatically? [Moved from Games]

820 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Ksen
Hi I play the sims 2 on my computer and I have a firewall and some other programs that are always running in my taskbar, and I always exit them before I go on the game, so that they don't slow the game down, is there a way that I can set certain programs to end when the sims 2 starts? Or a free program that allows this?
Any help would be most aprecietted!

BTW-I have Windows XP SP2

Start Menu -> Run -> msconfig

You have to be really careful here. You don't want to cancel any startup programs that you would need. Just be aware. This permanantly stops programs from starting up when you start windows. If you still want some of these to start up, you'll still have to close them manually.

Additionally, if you don't already, run some spyware cleaning programs. They might be contributing.
Sorry I really need it to do it before I go on the sims and automatically because its a firewall!:sigh:
Something like that usually involves a pretty heavy script to stop stuff upon game entry. Really, there's no easy way to do that. Sorry I can't help you too much.

Hopefully one of theses TSF guys can help you more than me. Good luck.
